Minot and the surrounding areas have seen plenty of growth the past few years, and Minot Air Force Base is no exception. The base will have a new temporary lodging facility across from the Shoppette. The project has been designed and will soon go out for bids. The temporary housing is for military members in transition on and off base.

Col. Doug Gilpin, Commander of the 5th Civil Engineer Squadron, addressed the Chamber’s Military Affairs Committee Jan. 9 at the Jimmy Doolittle Center at MAFB. He discussed military construction projects or MILCON. The temporary lodging facility will be a two-story structure with 30 two-bedroom units. This past year, a 168-room dormitory for single airman was complete. This summer the runway will be under construction as well.
