Task Force 21 connects with congressional leadership
Two members of the Task Force 21 Committee were in Washington, DC., on May 10 to support a presentation by Senator Heidi Heitkamp on the nuclear triad.  .  This was an important conversation that addressed modernization of the weapon systems.   Additionally, it was stressed that all involved needed to help take the modernization story to the general public.  More than 60 individuals attended, including embassy personnel from several allies.
Task Force 21 traveled to Washington DC, on May 14 and 15 and had another successful series of meetings with Air Force leaders in the Pentagon.  Visits included Mr. Richard Hartley, Assistant Secretary of Air Force Installations and Energy, Mr. Matthew Donovan, Under Secretary of the Air Force, Lt Gen Jack Wientseen, the A-10 of the Air Force, and MG Steve Bashem, Air Force Legislative Liaison.  Topics covered included community partnerships, licensure portability, weapon systems modernization and milcon (military construction) for the base.  It was noted by the Air Force staff that bringing the North Dakota Congressional Delegation along for the visit was rare.
TF 21 then joined the ND Army and Air Guard and the communities of Grand Forks and Fargo in hosting a reception in honor of the ND Congressional Delegation and invited guests.  TF 21 has been hosting a reception similar to this since the early 1990s.  TF 21 extends invitations to military members, both active duty and retired, who have served at Minot AFB.  Key Air Force leadership is also invited and this reception was fortunate to host the Secretary of the Air Force, Heather Wilson, and many general officers.
Task Force 21 (TF 21) is a committee of community members who work to secure the future of Minot Air Force Base
