Minot’s inaugural State of the City event set for Feb. 8 at Magic City Campus
The first-ever City of Minot State of the City event is now set for 2018. The inaugural event to highlight previous City activities and discuss
Minot’s future is scheduled for Feb. 8, 2018, at the Arvel Graving Theater at Magic City Campus.  “Minot has never held a State of the City
Address, but I think this will be the beginning of an important new tradition for our community,” said City Manager Tom Barry. “We want
residents of Minot to have the opportunity to visit with City staff and elected officials to hear about and discuss our city’s accomplishments,
vision and strategy,” said Barry.

The event, with the theme of “Past, Present, and Future,” will offer attendees the chance to meet with City of Minot department heads and
other City staff, in addition to gathering information about City projects. 

The tentative schedule for the event:

• 4:15 p.m.: Open house, featuring informational booths from City departments.

• 5 p.m.: Program begins with color guard and national anthem. City Manager Tom Barry will make introductions, followed by a speech from Mayor Chuck Barney. The winner of the fifth-grade challenge “Why I Love to Call Minot Home” will read the winning essay, and other top essays will be on display.

• 6 to 7 p.m.: Social hour featuring hors d’oeuvres from local area restaurants. “Feedback, input and guidance from our residents is vital
