A very special Military Affairs Committee meeting is planned for June 5th at 11:30 a.m. at the Minot Air Museum at 100 34th Ave NE. The Etchberger family will be recognized for the Medal of Honor award as a result of USAF Chief Master Sergeant Richard L. Etchberger’s heroic actions before losing his life in the Vietnam war. Congressman Earl Pomeroy will be in attendance since he was instrumental securing the award with Dick Etchberger actually serving at a NDak radar station at one time. The beautiful refurbished B-52 model at the Dakota Territory Air Museum will be dedicated as a token of our community’s appreciation to the USAF. The very impressive museum with their multiple buildings and displays will be available for viewing all day free of charge to all military personnel and their families. A noon meal will be hosted by Verendrye Electric Cooperative catered by the Homesteaders Restaurant. All are invited to attend and become Military Affairs Committee members at a nominal cost of only $100 per year. Contact Bruce Carlson at VEC (852-0406) for more information and please note the non-traditional meeting location with an earlier start time.
